Timetables for KCPE and KCSE Out as KNEC Breathes Fire on Cheats

The Kenya National Examination Council, (KNEC) has released timetables for the forthcoming national examinations for both primary and secondary school levels.

The examination body has further announced hard measures that are aimed at curbing examination malpractice during this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

About 972,837 candidates are expected to sit the KCPE examination which will kick off from 31st of October 2017 while those expected to sit the KCSE examinations are 573,234 which kicks off on 3rd November 2017.

KNEC has also warned of hefty penalties for those who would be found cheating which will include a 10-year jail term or 2 million shillings fine or both for revealing the contents of examination material to an unauthorized party.

During the 2016 national examinations, KNEC shocked Kenyans when it put in place measures that were seen too strict and too tough for both students and teachers. When the final results were released for KCSE, only 141 students managed to score the coveted grade A, a sharp drop from more than 2000 As that had been recorded in the previous year, 2015.
