School Calendar Extended, KCPE, KCSE Exams To Be Pushed Ahead

School Calendar’s term two is set to be extended to compensate for the time lost by activities of the general elections.

According to Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KSSHA) National Chairperson Indimuli Kahi, the government will extend the second term to give KCSE and KCPE candidates enough time to cover the syllabus and prepare for their final examinations.

Mr. Indimuli said this in a brief interview with a local radio station on Wednesday 17 August. He disclosed that he had consulted the Principal Secretary of Basic Education Dr.Julius Jwan and they had agreed to convene a meeting with Education stakeholders in order to restructure the term and compensate for the time lost during the just-completed elections

“We want to give all KCSE and KCPE candidates together with all teachers enough time to cover the syllabus and adequately prepare for national examinations,“ said Mr. Indimuli.

He further noted that 2022 is a critical transitional year that should be handled with care because Grade Six learners will join Junior Secondary, Grade Eight learners will join Secondary School and the Form Four students will be joining higher education institutions.

He used that opportunity to thank Kenyans for maintaining peace during and after the election, a situation that he said will enable students to report to their respective schools and continue with their learning without interruption.

The Chairperson also reminded all parents to pay school fees on time so as to enable school heads to run schools smoothly.

Parents should pay school fees to enable all school heads in Kenya to run the schools efficiently because students will have to eat, school workers will have to be paid and suppliers will need their money,” he said.

At the same time, primary and secondary schools began their academic activities for the year 2022 on April 26th, and they returned for half term on the 26th of last June until the 29th of June before returning to school to begin the second half of term one.
