by Business Watch Team

Just days after the opposition, National Super Alliance (NASA) claimed that the ruling party, Jubilee was forcing directors of various companies to give them money for the campaign, a Legal Manager attached to Mumias Sugar Company has been shot dead in Matungu, Mumias.

In a rally held at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Sunday, NASA principal Musalia Mudavadi claimed that some top brass within the Jubilee government had demanded up to 10 million shillings from the troubled Mumias Sugar Company.

Joseph Lubya was shot dead at his home in Mumias and his wife gang-raped by three armed men. The wife of the deceased said that the three men, upon shooting her husband forced her to several them with the dinner she had prepared for her husband. She says the gunmen took away a laptop, some files, and demanded cash.

Mumias Sugar Company has been through financial turmoil, still struggling to come out of losses running into billions. The national government had offered to bail out the troubled Miller after offering to pay 2 billion shillings of its debts.

The death of Mr. Lubya comes days after Miller’s Chief Executive Officer refused to extend his contract and fled back to his country.

Questions are now being asked, why was Mr. Lubya killed? What did he know about Mumias Sugar Company?
