There are various social media tools. The most used tools are; Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Initially, people thought Twitter was the most addictive social media tool as compared to others. Not until TikTok landed.

Studies are now showing that TikTok is one of the most addictive apps ever invented that is “turning people into bots and zombies.”

The app has one of the best algorithms that tailor pieces of stuff to people based on their preferences. The tool allows people to post videos, animate their photos, go live, and watch other people’s posts.

TikTok has about 755 million users around the world. The majority of users on TikTok are youngsters. Some brands have started embracing the tool to amplify their products and services.

TikTok is so addictive that in China, children and adults have allocated time for access, and once that time is over, they all log out and do other things or risk being found on the wrong side of the law.

China has also put in place the type of content that should be accessible in China. The algorithms are controlled such that “only meaningful content” is displayed.

In Kenya, TikTok is popular among young people who use it to post videos of them dancing are carrying out other activities. Kenyans have not been able to have meaningful content on TikTok compared to other countries. All that is there are young girls shaking their behinds, comedians posting their stuff, and syncing of lips among others.

One of the most interesting findings about TikTok is that those who post stuff are not as addicted as those who flip through numerous posts on TikTok. There are people who are spending sleepless nights scrolling through TikTok videos just to watch without doing anything else.

The danger is that those who are addicted to TikTok don’t know that they are actually addicted.
