Woodford Reserve Marks Kenyan Debut with Spectacular Old Fashioned Month at Trademark Hotel

Woodford Reserve®, the world’s top-selling super-premium American whiskey*, and the Old Fashioned, one of the world’s top classic cocktails hosted the Nairobi edition of the annual Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Month at Trademark Hotel from November 6th, marking the official launch of Woodford Reserve in the Kenyan Market.

Consumers and hospitality guests were invited to celebrate this iconic cocktail as the event-which is being hosted concurrently in 20 markets across the globe-marks its 10-year anniversary. It was first held in Paris in 2015.

“Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Month has been curated to appeal to the discerning taste of the whiskey connoisseur. Guests have the opportunity to experience an iconic cocktail that continues to remain popular across the globe,” Brown-Forman’s East Africa Advocacy Lead David Mutunga. Brown-Forman is the local distributor for Woodford Reserve®.

“This event enhances our key objective to boost Woodford Reserve’s brand visibility and provide our target market with a diverse product that they can enjoy responsibly,” added Mr. Mutunga.

Woodford Reserve also encourages people to make their own version of an Old Fashioned at home. It is traditionally made with 3 simple ingredients – bourbon, sugar, and bitters.

Both Woodford Reserve and the Old Fashioned have their roots in Kentucky, as cocktail historians generally agree the cocktail’s name was first used at the Pendennis Club in Louisville. It was popularized by Col. James E. Pepper in 1881, when it was introduced to high society at the Waldorf Astoria New York, and is now the top classic cocktail in the world.

Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Month is an annual global celebration for bartenders and anyone who appreciates a well-crafted drink.
