The US State Department has issued a worldwide caution to all US citizens warning them of potential terrorist attacks in the wake of a fierce war between Israel and Palestine.

This is the first time in many years that the US is issuing an alert to all its citizens around the world, warning them that terror groups might be targeting to kill or harm them.

“Due to increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations or violent actions against US citizens and interests, the US State Department advises US Citizens overseas to exercise increased caution,” said part of the statement.

The statement came shortly after Preside Joe Biden visited Israel amid intense air and ground strikes in Gaza in what Israel has termed as a move to eliminate Hamas from the region once and for all.

It’s been nearly two weeks since Hamas, a Gaza-based militant group, attacked Israel, killing more than 1,300 Israelis.

That prompted Israel to declare war on Hamas which resulted in more than 3,000 Palestinians being killed and thousands more being injured. At least 30 American citizens have been killed in the conflict.

The United States says that other terror groups worldwide might take advantage of the situation in Israel and Palestine to launch attacks on Israeli or American citizens in other countries.

What is happening in Kenya?

Closer home, Al-Shabaab is still a menace. There have been various terror attacks in Northern Kenya and the coastal region, especially Lamu. This prompted the Ministry of Interior to release a full list of terror suspects.

This is not the first time the government has released the list of terror suspects. In most cases, it amounts to nothing because many people are often afraid of releasing information to the police for fear of being turned into witnesses or suspects.

“A substantial cash reward will be offered to any member of the public who provides credible information leading to the arrest of any of the suspects,” said DCI in a statement.
