TSC Releases Additional Posting Letters, Report Dates, Revised Salary

In July 2022, the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, announced the mass recruitment of teachers to plug the biting shortage of teaching workforce in various schools.

Letters for teachers who began working in July of this year have begun to trickle down to various TSC sub-county offices across the nation.

Teachers who filled the employment letters have been so anxious about when they will get their appointment letters which will make them be posted to various schools in the country. Already at least six counties have confirmed receiving the appointment letters for the teachers.

Among these counties include Narok, Kericho, Tana River, Siaya, Uasin Gishu, and Kwale counties that have reported receiving some of the employment letters for both primary and secondary schools respectively.

Primary school teachers hired will receive their letters from the TSC sub-county offices, while secondary school teachers will receive their letters from the secondary school principals. According to the TSC framework for hiring teachers in July 2022, the newly hired instructors were scheduled to be posted to their new stations on September 1st.

Note also that some details reveal that the Commission will post the new recruits to their new schools from next month up to the month of January next year, 2023. According to TSC, any newly employed graduate teacher is entitled to a starting salary now of 38000 shillings.

This figure changes if one used to benefit from a HELB loan since some amount is deducted. All newly employed teachers start under (grade C2) initially known as job group K apart from their basic salaries also enjoy a commuter allowance of KSH 5000 and a rental house allowance of KSH 7500.

  1. The Basic Salary is ksh.34,955
  2. The House Allowance Ksh 7,500
  3. The Commuter Allowance Ksh. 5,000.
  4. The Total Earnings (before deductions) were KSH 47,455.
