The United States Has Officially Left The World Health Organization (WHO)

Immediately after taking office, President Donald Trump withdrew the United States of America from the World Health Organization (WHO) with the promise of finding an alternative. Health experts say the move will have a devastating impact on the operations of WHO.

In the order signed by Trump, the US has revoked prior retraction of the 2020 withdrawal notice and has ceased to fund the operations of WHO. The US will also not provide personnel to work with the World Health Organization. He has also halted any future negotiations with WHO.

Here is the order:

WHO

President Trump has been at loggerheads with WHO since the days of the COVID-19 pandemic. He has accused the world body of “mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic,” and the “failure to adopt urgently needed reforms.” He said the agency demands “unfairly onerous payments” from the United States, and complained that China pays less.

The US will also suffer when it comes to getting global data from WHO. Leaving the W.H.O. would mean, among other things, that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would have no access to the global data that the agency provides. When China characterized the genetic sequence of the novel coronavirus in 2020, it released the information to W.H.O., which shared it with other nations.

President Trump has also announced that going forward, the United States will only recognize two genders. This means that all the financial aid that came from US to groups that supported gay relationships will stop. This will render the majority of them in countries like Kenya, useless.
