Kenya Is home to the highest number of tech startups within the East African region. It also hosts a good number of impactful tech companies on the continent.  In 2020 the country received the biggest share of the total funding to technology startups in Africa. Nigeria came second.

Kenyan tech startups raised a record amount of funding in 2020, securing a combined total of Ksh 19.1 billion. The impact of these startups has been visible and noticeable.

In May this year, The World Economic Forum announced its selection of the 100 most promising Technology Pioneers of 2022. These are high-impact companies that are tackling issues from sustainability and climate change to healthcare, business, and more.

In Africa, only four companies made it to the list. One of them is Sendy

The Pan African technology company is building easy tech solutions that enable businesses to sell, move goods and get financing.

“We’re excited to welcome Sendy to our 2022 cohort of Technology Pioneers. Sendy and its fellow pioneers are at the forefront of industries that are critical to solving some of our world’s most complex issues today. We look forward to their contribution to the World Economic Forum in its commitment to improving the state of the world,” said Saemoon Yoon, Community Lead, Technology Pioneers, World Economic Forum.

Sendy has grown its operations over the last six years. They are working with businesses in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Cote d’Ivoire.

Their products Sendy Supply and Sendy Fulfillment have created a perfect infrastructure to address the challenges businesses face. It is now enabling seamless trade in the continent.

With the push of a  button, businesses can source goods, move goods, get storage, and access financing. This is an all-around infrastructure that is facilitating commerce.

“We are honored to be recognized by the World Economic Forum as a technology pioneer. This recognition affirms our belief that the digital economy in Africa presents the biggest opportunity for young people to participate in the economy. As a company that uses tech to empower entrepreneurs, we look forward to working with the World Economic Forum and jointly contributing towards building a sustainable future for many businesses across Africa,” said Sendy’s Mesh Alloys in a press statement

Sendy, like other startups, is liberating the commerce sector from hurdles that have for the longest time inhibited business from growing. Their solution is to create an enabling e-commerce space where every seller, vendor, or business owner can build a sustainable business.
