Absa Bank Kenya has been certified as a top employer in Kenya and Africa in 2022. Coming at a time many banks in Kenya have been letting go of employees to cut down on costs, the certification of Absa shows that there is still hope of employment in the banking sector.

The naming of Absa Bank Kenya as the top employer was done by the Top Employers Institute. “This showcases the organization’s dedication to a better world of work and exhibits this through excellent HR policies and people practices.”

The Top Employers Institute program certifies organizations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey.

The survey covers 6 HR domains consisting of 20 topics including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being Diversity & Inclusion, and more.

“In order to achieve Global Top Employer status, these organizations are certified as Regional Top Employers in a minimum number of countries and regions. They must also be certified in the country where their international headquarters are based,” said the Institute.

Absa now joins other organizations such as BAT, Boehringer Ingelheim, DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, Infosys, and JTI that have been certified as top global employers for 2022.

“This achievement places Absa Kenya amongst a prestigious group of companies that are globally recognized for excellence in supporting employee growth and innovation,” said Absa Kenya Managing Director Jeremy Awori. “We recognize the critical role our colleagues play in ensuring that our customers enjoy a great banking experience from us, and we are committed to creating a working environment that allows them to thrive.”

Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink says: “Reflecting on the demanding year that has, like the year before it, impacted organizations across the world, Absa Kenya has continued to show that it prioritizes maintaining excellent people practices in the workplace. They continue to meet the challenges of the changing world of work while working tirelessly to make a positive impact on the lives of their workforce. We are pleased to celebrate and applaud the organizations that have been certified as Top Employers in their respective countries this year.”
