You Are A True Shujaa – Kenya Airways On Raila Odinga

Kenya Airways (KQ) has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, dedicating this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations to his enduring legacy.

Raila, who passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, while receiving treatment in India, was remembered by Kenya Airways as a true national hero whose influence transcended generations.

Kenya Airways joined millions of Kenyans in celebrating Raila’s immense contribution to the country’s democratic and social transformation, taking pride in taking part in facilitating the return of Baba to Kenya.

“Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, a hero whose vision, courage, and unwavering spirit inspired generations and shaped our nation’s journey. Happy Mashujaa Day,” read the tribute.

The airline’s message struck a chord with Kenyans across social media, who expressed gratitude for the carrier’s gesture in recognizing Raila’s lifelong commitment to justice, freedom, and unity. The tribute followed a somber yet dignified reception of Raila’s remains at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday morning, October 16, 2025.

Operations at JKIA had been temporarily halted earlier in the day to allow for the safe arrival and ceremonial reception of the statesman’s body. The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) later announced the resumption of normal operations shortly after the proceedings.

Raila Odinga’s passing marked the end of an era for Kenya’s political landscape, but as Kenya Airways poignantly captured, his ideals continue to soar high — much like the airline’s emblematic African skybird. Through its tribute, KQ reminded the nation that heroes live on, not in statues or speeches, but in the enduring impact of their courage and conviction.
