WSUP Advisory, Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) ‘s commercial arm, has appointed Dr Philippa Ross as its new managing director. WSUP Advisory provides global commercial consultancy services in water, sanitation, and hygiene.
With her extensive expertise and visionary leadership approach, Dr Ross will further scale up WSUP Advisory’s business strategies, and strengthen client and partner relationships while nurturing a highly motivated and knowledgeable team of experts and external consultants.
Dr Ross brings over 20 years of experience in the water sector in Africa, Asia, and the UK. Having held senior positions at AtkinsRéalis including Client Director, and Service Line Director, leading the international development, planning, environmental consenting, and sustainability teams, Philippa brings technical, operational, and business development expertise to WSUP Advisory.
As a water and international development specialist, she holds a doctorate in urban sustainability and resilience and has teams for public, private, and international financing clients.

WSUP Advisory is a for-profit company specializing in providing technical assistance to enhance water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services for low-income urban communities worldwide – which continues to increase the scalability of WSUP’s programs. The organization is dedicated to showcasing sustainable WASH models, building capacity, mobilizing financing, and documenting and disseminating valuable learnings. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the non-profit organization, and Advisory’s profits support WSUP’s impactful initiatives worldwide.
Occupying a niche segment, WSUP Advisory provides technical assistance and advice based on a strategic, commercial, organizational, and management perspective related to urban water and sanitation. Since 2015, WSUP Advisory has completed nearly sixty projects, ranging in size from $10,000 to $3.2 million and totaling $16 million in fees, for clients including The Conrad Hilton Foundation, USAID, UNICEF, and the World Bank.
