It has emerged that the government to President Samia Suluhu Hassan often uses influencers from Kenya to push its agenda and not those from within the country.
From bashing the opposition, to pushing key developments, to pushing hashtags during the birthday of Samia Suluhu Hassan, Kenyan influencers have become a key part of Chama Cha Mapinduzi.
“Samia Suluhu Hassan only uses local musicians like Diamond Platnumz and others to push her agenda locally, but when she wants an agenda pushed online, she gets everything from Kenyans,” said our insider from the Tanzanian Government.
It is said that Samia Suluhu Hassan has key individuals in Kenya who have a team of influencers. These people procure influencers on behalf of Suluhu. They are paid as individuals, then they distribute the cash to the teams pushing the agenda.
“Their main deliverable is to fight any war that is directed at ‘Mama’ Suluhu. Sometimes a hashtag about Mama might be trending in Kenya but not in Tanzania, and it has always worked effectively,” said our source.
It is said that during the speculations about the health of President John Pombe Magufuli, Suluhu already had a team in place that started the speculations and “prepare the ground” for her “ascend to the throne.”
“The news about Magufuli dying started doing rounds in Kenya way before even the Tanzanians knew about it. It was obvious that someone was pushing a certain agenda. Only a few of us knew,” said the source.

Our source tells that Samia Suluhu prefers Kenyans to push her agenda online for four reasons:
There is no freedom of expression on social media in Tanzania as it is in Kenya. Ironically, Samia Suluhu has banned major social media platforms such as X (Twitter) in her country. Many Tanzanians, due to numerous frustrations, have opted to leave the platforms.
Most Tanzanians do their posts on X (Twitter) in Swahili which often limits how points are brought to the surface. The use of Swahili also means the conversation is only confined within a smaller community in Tanzania. The use of Kenyans and their English means a wider reach with clear points.
Tanzanians aren’t as organized as Kenyans with it comes to online platforms. It is not easy to get a group of influencers or bloggers in Tanzania. Those available to their posts for fun and not as a form of employment. In Kenya, our source tells us that they do it because it is their source of income and they will do it right.
Lastly, Kenyans know how to handle a subject through research. If given to attack an opposition figure, for instance, they will “dig deeper” to get more “dirt to use against him” more than Tanzanians would.
“Most of the accounts with Tanzanian flags and engagement of Tanzanian affairs online are Kenyan. So many accounts have been set up in Kenya to only run campaigns in Tanzania and as elections come closer, the online war has just begun,” said our source.
Our source says that the opposition in Tanzania has lost the information war against CCM. The source says CCM is so many steps ahead and the opposition often comes in late, depending on the goodwill of the people to spread their messages.
