UBA Kenya Launches New USSD Service To Expand Access to Everyday Banking

UBA Kenya has officially launched its *467# USSD banking service, a move set to significantly enhance access to essential banking services for customers across the country, regardless of internet connectivity or smartphone ownership.

The new service allows customers to carry out key banking transactions directly from their mobile phones by simply dialing *467#. Designed to work on both smartphones and basic feature phones, the platform eliminates the need for mobile data, banking apps, or internet access—making banking faster, simpler, and more inclusive.

With the *467# service, UBA customers can check their account balances, transfer money, view mini-statements, and manage other essential account services within seconds. The launch reflects a growing shift by banks toward practical, low-cost digital solutions that align with the realities of everyday life for many Kenyans.

According to UBA Kenya, the service is particularly suited to customers who need reliable banking on the go, including small business owners handling frequent transactions, salaried professionals managing finances during busy workdays, students seeking affordable access to banking, and customers in regions where internet connectivity remains inconsistent.

To get started, customers are required to have their SMS alerts activated, a step that supports secure registration and ensures real-time transaction notifications. Customers without active SMS alerts can visit any UBA branch nationwide for quick assistance.

Security has been built into the service, with transaction confirmations and safeguards designed to protect users at every step. UBA says this ensures customers can transact with confidence while enjoying the convenience of instant banking access.

The introduction of *467# underscores UBA Kenya’s broader commitment to financial inclusion and customer-centric innovation. By removing common digital barriers, the bank aims to bring banking services closer to more people and make them usable in real-life situations where speed and reliability matter most.

Customers can access support through UBA’s customer care lines on 0711 027 099 or 0730 727 099, or via email at cfckenya@ubagroup.com. In-person assistance is also available at all UBA branches across the country.

As Kenya continues to embrace digital financial services, UBA Kenya’s *467# USSD platform positions the bank as a key player in delivering simple, secure, and accessible banking solutions that work wherever customers are.
