Kenya’s largest digital lender, Tala, has been named the Best Digital Lender in Risk Management by Think Business in this year’s Digital Lenders Awards for 2025. Tala emerged on top in the category out of 20 lenders who are regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
Themed “Promoting Best Practice in the Provision of Instant Credit,” the award recognized the crucial role of digital lenders in transforming financial services and driving financial inclusion across Kenya. It came at a time when millions of Kenyans had turned to digital lending service providers due to their ease of access.
The judging panel, consisting of financial experts, technologists, and consumer advocates, analyzed entries submitted by digital lenders through a multi-phase process. This included financial audits by PKF Kenya, customer feedback from over 10,000 borrowers Think Business’s CSI surveys, independent IT security and usability assessments, and on-site visits to shortlisted lenders to assess operational practices and governance.
