Spiro Kenya has partnered with Revitalize Homes and Gardens for their GATHER and GROW initiative to combine Spiro’s commitment to sustainable mobility with community-led economic development by supporting women riders and sponsoring an initial 10 edible forests with cash crops in partnership with Revitalize Homes and Gardens.

According to the largest electric bike manufacturer in Kenya, providing electric bikes and sustainable agricultural opportunities will enable women to transform their livelihoods.

These edible forests—shambas—will provide short-term income through crops like garlic and chillis, while fruit trees mature over three years, offering long-term economic security. Many of these farms are located in areas that are difficult to reach by car, making Spiro’s electric bikes a vital tool for market access.

Spiro aims to reach 100,000 women through this program, beginning with 10 shambas fully sponsored by Revitalize Homes and Gardens in the initial phase. Spiro’s electric bikes will be made available under an asset financing framework, ensuring that more women can access clean, affordable transport to distribute their produce efficiently and expand their businesses.

Two women, Catherine Mworia (Kenya Bikers Association – KBA) and Mary Ngendo (Boda Boda Association of Kenya – BAK), will be among the first to benefit from this initiative, using their Spiro electric bikes to transport and sell their produce.

“This opportunity means everything to me. With my Spiro bike, I can reach markets faster, earn a stable income, and invest in my family’s future,” said Catherine Mworia.

“For years, I’ve struggled with unreliable transport and unpredictable earnings. Now, I have a bike, a farm, and a future,” said Mary Ngendo from BAK.

Spiro has always championed women’s empowerment, both through electric mobility and broader socio-economic initiatives. Revitalize’s GATHER and GROW initiative, which is open to wider partnership, aligns with Spiro’s previous efforts to increase female participation in the clean energy economy.
