Young entrepreneurs in Nyeri have been called upon to take advantage of locally available opportunities, grow their skills, and earn a living. This was the main message that dominated the Chanuka, Jipange na Opportunities initiative organized by 20X Entrepreneurs.

The Nyeri event is part of a series of training events by 20X Entrepreneurs that is making rounds in counties across the country, equipping young entrepreneurs with skills to grow and empower themselves led by the CEO and Founder, Eunice Maina.

The event brought together artisans, contractors, and SMEs to learn communication skills, customer service, and personal finance planning among other soft skills that are essential for the construction workers to excel in their trade underscoring the initiative’s commitment to transforming the construction value chain and driving economic growth through soft skills development.

The entrepreneurs were enlightened on how to take advantage of the agricultural sector, where the county is renowned for its thriving coffee, tea, dairy, and horticulture sectors, which drive local prosperity; tourism, and trade, with Nyeri having a rich cultural tapestry, scenic highlands, and historical landmarks that enhance community spirit and economic vibrancy; and artisan craftsmanship.

Given the ongoing affordable housing projects by the government in Nyeri, Eunice Maina told those present that it was time for them to board the project’s train and use their skills to earn a living from the projects. So far, the government has set up three projects including; the Nyeri Urban Renewal Project in Nyeri Town which has 150 units, Othaya Community Homes in Othaya which has 80 units, and the Tetu Housing Initiative in Tetu sub-county which has 70 units.
