Buyers of LG electronics will now enjoy faster and more convenient after-sales services following the unveiling of the LG Best Care Trailer, a 40-foot mobile customer support unit designed to deliver technical assistance and repairs directly to consumers across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and potentially Zambia.
This solution comes at a time when the market has shown a strong appetite for LG’s product lines, including smart TVs, refrigerators, and AI-powered washing machines. LG, for example, dominates the premium TV market with its OLED shipments accounting for 57.5% of the global market share in 2024.
LG’s total TV shipments across both OLED and LCD models also reached 22.6 million units last year, representing 16.1 percent of the global TV market revenue. It is a similar situation across multiple LG product lines, including laundry and built-in appliances, where LG is a preferred brand across multiple markets.
The LG Best Care Trailer responds directly to this surging demand, ensuring that buyers have easy access to critical support services. Launched at the Safari Park Hotel, it will travel across various neighbourhoods in the capital, including high-density suburbs like Eastlands, South B, and Kasarani, and mixed-income areas like Westlands and Kilimani. Stop locations will be announced weekly via LG East Africa’s social media channels.
The mobile unit is fully equipped with diagnostic tools, spare parts, and a team of skilled technicians trained to handle a wide range of LG products, from home appliances like refrigerators and washing machines to electronics, including televisions and audio systems. Customers can have their products assessed, minor repairs completed on-site, and receive guidance on proper usage and maintenance, without having to visit a service centre.
But beyond free service campaigns, the LG Best Care Trailer is also multi-purpose. It features a moving LED billboard, a stage with sound and lighting capabilities for talent showcases, and serves as a platform for customer and community engagement activities across Kenya and the wider East African region.
“We understand that for many Kenyans, accessing centralized service points can be time-consuming and costly, especially in busy cities like Nairobi. The LG Best Care Trailer brings expert support directly to our customers’ doorsteps, saving them time and ensuring their appliances continue to function efficiently,” said Donghun Lee, President of LG Electronics East Africa.
According to Kenya’s National Bureau of Statistics, Nairobi is home to over 4.5 million residents, with approximately 70% relying on public transportation[2]. As many households increasingly invest in mid- to high-end appliances, convenience in after-sales care has become a growing concern. LG’s initiative seeks to bridge that gap by decentralizing service delivery and reducing turnaround times.
“At LG, customer satisfaction does not end at the point of sale but continues across the lifetime of the products through reliable, responsive after-care. The LG Best Care Trailer reflects this commitment to ensuring that customers attain maximum benefits from their investment,” said Ronald Mitei, the Service Director at LG Electronics East Africa.
While mobile service models are common in sectors like telecom and banking across Africa, LG’s adaptation for the electronics sector could set a new standard. The company plans to roll out the LG Best Care Trailer to other major towns such as Mombasa, Kisumu, and Nakuru, and extend it to markets in Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia, following a pilot period in Nairobi.
