Senior leaders from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) have called on youths to uphold discipline, integrity and civic responsibility, stressing that sustainable nation-building begins with values nurtured early in life.
Speaking during a visit at Alliance High School, KRA Board Chairman Hon. Ndiritu Muriithi and Commissioner General Mr. Humphrey Wattanga challenged learners to see themselves not just as students, but as future custodians of Kenya’s social and economic progress. They emphasized that leadership is defined less by titles and more by ethical conduct, service and accountability.
In their remarks, the leaders underscored the role of taxation as a pillar of patriotism and development, noting that revenue mobilization enables the government to provide essential services and invest in long-term national growth.
A major highlight during the visit at the school was the official launch of the Alliance High School Tax Club. The initiative is designed to promote tax literacy, financial responsibility and informed citizenship among students, equipping them with a practical understanding of how public revenue supports nation-building and preparing them to participate responsibly in the economy.
The interactive session with students and teachers focused on values-driven leadership, patriotism and responsible citizenship. For both Hon. Muriithi and Mr. Wattanga, the visit carried personal significance, as they are alumni of Alliance High School. They reflected on their formative years at the institution, crediting the school’s emphasis on discipline, resilience and character development for shaping their leadership paths in public service.
The KRA leaders reaffirmed Alliance High School’s reputation as a cradle of leadership excellence, citing its long history of producing individuals who have gone on to influence Kenya’s political, economic and social landscape. They described the school as a critical incubator for national leadership.
Concluding the visit, the KRA leadership expressed optimism about Kenya’s future, noting that it is being shaped in classrooms such as those at Alliance High School by young people prepared to lead with integrity, purpose and patriotism.
