The Kenya China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCCI) demonstrated its continued commitment to education, climate awareness, and community empowerment by donating lunch boxes and pencil pouches to pupils at Kibera Primary School, one of Kenya’s oldest and largest public schools.
The initiative was led by KCCCI Chairman Mr. Tim Chen, who was accompanied by members of the Chamber’s leadership and team. In addition to the donation, the team screened an educational film on climate change, helping pupils understand how environmental changes are affecting communities in Kenya and around the world, and why young people must be part of the solution.
“Every one of us can protect our country. We will become the guardians and protectors for our home, for our country. This is our target.Today has brought us away and your bright little minds are so amazing. We want this to be a regular thing—a fine time to learn, love, and make friends together. We want to show you people a relationship. A friendship between the two communities—the Chinese community in Nairobi and the Kenyan friends,” said Mr Chen.
The activity forms part of Phase II of the School Science Popularization Project, a flagship education and mentorship initiative spearheaded by the Kenya China Chamber of Commerce. The project aims to inspire curiosity, strengthen science learning, and expose young learners to global challenges such as climate change through age-appropriate and engaging content.

When you lift a family, you lift a community. And when you lift a community, we build a nation.Thank you for Kibera Primary School for having us and for all your amazing kindness. You have filled our hearts with so much joy today—we are so grateful,” said KCCCI CEO Blak Aende.
Founded in 1953 by Queen Elizabeth, Kibera Primary School has grown into a cornerstone of public education in Nairobi.
Today, the school serves 1,864 pupils, many of whom come from underserved communities. The donation of lunch boxes and pencil pouches is intended to support daily learning while reinforcing the importance of dignity, care, and equal opportunity in education.
Teachers and school administrators welcomed the initiative, noting that mentorship and exposure to global issues such as climate change help broaden pupils’ perspectives and strengthen their confidence.
The Kenya-China Chamber of Commerce continues to expand its social responsibility initiatives, with education, youth empowerment, science learning, and sustainability at the core. Phase II of the School Science Popularization Project will roll out to more schools, reinforcing the Chamber’s belief that today’s learners are tomorrow’s innovators and climate leaders.
