Kenchic has attained the Food Safety System Certification for its state-of-the-art processing plant located in Thika.
“This certification reaffirms our dedication to ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality poultry products. We have been a trailblazer in setting food safety standards since 2011 when we got our first FSSC 22000 certification, and this recognition is a testament to our ongoing commitment to uncompromising quality, ” said Jim Tozer, Managing Director at Kenchic Ltd
The certification was awarded following a stringent and comprehensive audit process, which evaluated various aspects of Kenchic’s operations.
The audit covered a wide range of processes, including the slaughtering of chickens, the processing of raw fresh and frozen poultry products, raw further processed products, and ready-to-eat products. Kenchic’s processing structures and production floors were found to be flawless, and the audit revealed commendable Good Manufacturing Practices findings.
The primary objectives of the audit were to assess the conformity of Kenchic’s management system with the audit criteria and the company’s ability to ensure adherence to statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements. Furthermore, the audit evaluated the effectiveness of Kenchic’s systems in achieving its objectives and identifying areas of improvement.
Mr. Tozer added, “We have always believed that ensuring food safety is not just a responsibility but a commitment to making a positive impact on our customers’ lives. By achieving this certification, we continue to uphold our promise of providing safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly food production.”
