DT Dobie Placed Under Liquidation as Operations Fully Transition To CFAO Mobility Kenya

One of Kenya’s most iconic automotive names, DT Dobie, has officially been placed under liquidation, marking the formal winding down of the legal entity after more than seven decades in the market.

However, this development does not signal the exit of the globally renowned automotive brands that DT Dobie represented.

In 2023, all DT Dobie assets, operations, and franchises, including Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Jeep, and Volkswagen, were successfully transferred to CFAO Motors Kenya (now CFAO Mobility Kenya). As a result, there has been no disruption to customers. Sales, servicing, spare parts, and aftersales have continued seamlessly under CFAO Mobility Kenya, which operates an extensive network of over 36 branches nationwide.

The liquidation marks only the end of the DT Dobie name as a legal entity, not the departure of the automotive brands it carried. Customers can still access the same trusted vehicles and services, now under the consolidated umbrella of CFAO Mobility Kenya.

As of 31st March 2023, CFAO Group’s operations in Kenya comprised three entities: CFAO Mobility Kenya, DT Dobie, and LOXEA Kenya. To streamline operations and strengthen its market offering, an internal restructuring was finalized on 1st April 2023. Through this strategic alignment, DT Dobie officially transferred all its assets and business to CFAO Mobility Kenya.

This consolidation combined the heritage and expertise of two of Kenya’s most respected automotive players, creating a stronger, unified entity. Today, CFAO Mobility Kenya serves as the official distributor of 12 global automotive brands, offering more than 21 vehicle models and supported by a nationwide network of over 40 service centers, authorized dealers, and company-owned branches.

As part of legal requirements, DT Dobie & Company Kenya Ltd has appointed a liquidator to oversee the winding down of the company. For customers, this transition promises enhanced convenience, consistency, and access to a broader range of mobility solutions under one trusted name.

With DT Dobie’s proud legacy absorbed into CFAO Mobility Kenya, the move ensures continuity while ushering in a new era for Kenya’s automotive sector. CFAO Mobility Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to providing customers with world-class vehicles, enhanced service delivery, and comprehensive nationwide support.
