Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua Ndung’u is dead. The Deputy Governor is said to have died at a hospital that has not been disclosed by the family. The cause of his death is also yet to be disclosed as the family says more information will be released at a later stage.
Ndung’u was deputizing the current Governor of Lamu, Issa Timamy.
Leaders led by President William Ruto have mourned him as a progressive leader who worked tirelessly for Lamu residents and the country at large.
“I’m saddened by the news of the passing away of the Deputy Governor of Lamu County Raphael Munyua Ndung’u. He was a progressive leader who worked tirelessly for the greater good of the people of Lamu. Our love and prayers to the family, friends, and the people of Lamu County at this sad moment. Rest in peace,” the President said through his official X handle.
At the same time, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro also condoled with Lamu residents following the passing on of the deputy governor.
“Our sincere condolences to the great people of Lamu county following the passing on of the Lamu County Deputy Governor, Hon Raphael Munyua Ndung’u, who has not been feeling well for some time. Our thoughts are with the family,” he said.
