Carrefour Opens 30th Store In Kenya At Ruai

Carrefour in Kenya has marked yet another milestone in its retail journey with the opening of its 30th store at Waris Mall in Ruai. This expansion is not just about adding another outlet to the company’s growing footprint but also about reinforcing its long-term commitment to Kenya’s economy, local communities, and supply chain ecosystem.

The new store, which spans 1,500 square metres, has created over 40 new job opportunities for residents, ranging from cashiers and shelf attendants to store management positions. By generating employment, Majid Al Futtaim continues to play a vital role in empowering communities and contributing to socio-economic growth.

The Ruai store is also expected to serve as an important retail hub for the wider eastern Nairobi region, an area that has witnessed rapid population growth and urban development in recent years.

Customers visiting the store can expect a comprehensive selection of everyday essentials, household goods, and fresh produce, much of which is sourced directly from Kenyan farmers. This approach not only ensures high-quality products for customers but also strengthens Carrefour’s partnerships with smallholder farmers, suppliers, and entrepreneurs. Through such collaborations, Majid Al Futtaim provides a reliable market for thousands of local producers, enhancing their livelihoods while driving sustainability across the value chain.

With this new addition, Carrefour’s presence in Kenya now stands at 30 stores: 25 spread across Nairobi and its satellite towns, four in Mombasa, and one in Kisumu. Each store embodies the brand’s promise of convenience, affordability, and quality — values that have resonated strongly with Kenyan shoppers since Carrefour entered the market in 2016.

The opening of the Ruai outlet demonstrates how Majid Al Futtaim is not only expanding its retail footprint but also building long-lasting partnerships that benefit both customers and the wider Kenyan economy.
