BNI To Host Financial Literacy Dinner Aimed At Empowering Kenya’s Professionals

As conversations around money management and financial resilience gain momentum in Kenya, Business Network International (BNI) is taking the lead in driving awareness and education.

On Friday, 7th November 2025, BNI will host an exclusive Financial Literacy Dinner at the Mövenpick Hotel, Nairobi, under the theme “Money, Money Everywhere, and Nothing in the Pocket.”

The event is designed to address one of the country’s most pressing personal finance challenges — the gap between income and financial literacy. Despite rising incomes among urban professionals and entrepreneurs, many continue to grapple with budgeting, saving, debt, and long-term wealth planning.

According to the Standard & Poor’s Global Financial Literacy Survey, only 38 percent of Kenyan adults are financially literate, while over 60 percent of middle-income earners have little or no savings. This reality highlights the urgent need for practical education and conversations around money — not just how to earn it, but how to manage and multiply it wisely.

“Many hardworking professionals know how to make money, but not necessarily how to manage or multiply it,” said Mr. Muraguri, BNI Kenya National Director. “Through this dinner, we want to inspire candid discussions about wealth, purpose, and stewardship — helping people not just earn more, but live and give with intention.”

The Financial Literacy Dinner will bring together over 150 guests, including business leaders, financial experts, philanthropists, and executives from across Kenya’s private sector. Attendees can expect an engaging financial literacy panel discussion, featuring insights on personal finance, investment, and the psychology of money.

Beyond learning and networking, the event carries a strong social mission. Proceeds from the dinner will support the Kids2Kids Program, a ministry under ACK Christ Church Westlands, which rescues and rehabilitates street children from informal settlements such as Kangemi, Kibagare (Mishegwe), and Kawangware. The program offers rescued children education, mentorship, food, and emotional guidance, helping them reintegrate into society and formal education.

“Every contribution during this dinner will help feed, educate, and empower a child to start a new chapter in life. Our goal is to transform not just individual lives, but entire generations,” added Mr. Muraguri.

BNI, the world’s largest business referral organization with over 300,000 members across more than 70 countries, is built on the philosophy of “Givers Gain.” The Financial Literacy Dinner perfectly embodies that spirit — combining financial empowerment with purposeful giving.

As financial literacy becomes an increasingly vital skill for Kenya’s growth, this event promises to spark a movement, one where professionals don’t just chase wealth, but learn how to grow it, preserve it, and use it to create lasting impact.
