“Do not be a one-man show in your business. Get someone to help you out. Someone who can get the business going when you are unavailable. You cannot do everything by yourself,” said Eunice Maina, the CEO and Founder of 20X Entrepreneurs, a platform and organization that helps entrepreneurs grow and expand their businesses.
“Build systems and structures in your business such that even if you are away, the business will not be affected… Hire someone so that they can shadow you so that whatever you do, they see and have them replicated to grow your business,” she added.
Speaking on KBC Channel 1 during the Biz Check Show on Thursday morning, Eunice highlighted some of the key challenges that SMEs and entrepreneurs in Kenya go through. Apart from finances, she said the majority of startups struggle with having ideas that can sell.
“If no one is willing to pay for the idea that you have, then that idea is not viable,” she said. According to the entrepreneur coach, every business is born out of an idea that then manifests into identifying a problem and laying out solutions for the same to earn something out of it. “Strive to be compliant with the set laws. Compliance saves you a lot of agony.”
Eunice, through 20X Entrepreneurs, has and is still moving across the country, in various counties, empowering and enlightening small businesses and artisans on how they can marry into the government’s affordable housing projects and make a living.
20X entrepreneurs was started to help entrepreneurs and salespeople grow their business 20 times from their first interaction with us within 3 to 5 years.
She said the affordable housing project by the Kenya Kwanza government is a great opportunity for SMEs in respective counties to tap into, hone their skills, and be part of the projects. The projects have opportunities that SMEs can take advantage of such as plumping and supply of materials and she makes them realize this through her Chanuka, Jipange na Opportunities.
