In Kenya, a secondary school teacher earns an average of 35,000 shillings per month while a primary school teacher earns an average of 25,000 per month.

Most of these schools strive to provide the best education possible for their students and as a result, they frequently charge annual tuition of at least one million Kenyan shillings.

The majority of them follow the well-known British education system as IGCSE which is more advanced than both KCSE and KCPE.

For you to work as a teacher at one of these institutions, you must have a certain set of skills such as fluency in Chinese, German, French or Italian. A great fitness instructor or music teacher is highly considered at these institutions

According to a report, only 40 percent of the teaching staff at these institutions have a degree from a nearby university or have successfully navigated the Kenyan education system.

If you are hired as a teacher in any of these schools, your starting salary must be at least 100,000 Kenyan shillings regardless of whether you are a recent college graduate.

Some of the schools:

  1. The Aga Khan Academy
  2. Braeburn Mombasa International school
  3. Brookhouse School Hillcrest School
  4. Hillcrest School
  5. International School Of Kenya
  6. Nairobi Academy
  7. Oshwal Academy
  8. Peponi School
  9. Rosslyn Academy
  10. Andrews School
  11. Pembroke House
  12. Greensteds School
  13. Gems Cambridge International School

Teachers’ salaries in Kenya are sadly not something to be proud of, given the amount of work and effort that goes into being professional teachers in Kenya.
