The Family Group Foundation has been recognized among the Best Corporate Foundations at the 7th Annual National Diversity and Inclusion Awards and Recognition (DIAR Awards) for its unwavering commitment to improving livelihoods within underserved communities.
The Foundation also emerged as the 2nd runner-up in the Best Impact Investing Initiative category, for the second consecutive year, for its dedication to empowering women in informal settlements by equipping them with technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills in the construction industry.
“Being recognized among the top institutions in these prestigious categories affirms our commitment to bridging socio-economic gaps and creating sustainable impact through our shared value initiatives,” said The Family Group Foundation Executive Director John Waimiri.
The DIAR Awards celebrate and honour individuals, organizations, and institutions that have made significant contributions to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and sustainability.
“For over 13 years, we have played a pivotal role in enhancing financial inclusion, education, and entrepreneurship opportunities for marginalized communities across Kenya. These accolades reaffirm our commitment to fostering social and economic empowerment as a leader in community development,” added Waimiri.
Through its shared value initiatives, the Foundation continues to transform lives across Kenya. The TUFUZU na Elimu Scholarship has provided educational opportunities to 1,530 high school students, enabling them to pursue their studies and secure a brighter future. Meanwhile, the Tumikia Mtoto Program has trained and certified over 600 young women and girls (aged 18–24), equipping them with essential skills to enhance their economic independence. Additionally, through a strategic partnership with the Military Wives Association of Kenya, the Foundation has supported over 300 dependents of servicemen by providing technical and vocational training, facilitating access to labor markets, offering financial support, and connecting them with key industry partners.
