Kenya Airways (KQ) has teamed up with the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally 2025 to promote sports tourism and position Kenya as a premier destination for sports and safari enthusiasts.
The rally, which is part of the World Rally Championship calendar, is scheduled for 20-23 March 2025 in Nairobi and Naivasha, Kenya. It has attracted 50 participants from around the World, with thousands of spectators expected to attend the event and millions more expected to follow the championship on digital platforms worldwide.
“We are excited to partner again with the WRC Rally, an iconic event that showcases the best of Kenya to the World. As the official airline partner, we are dedicated to providing seamless travel experiences for participants and fans while reinforcing Kenya’s position as a leading global destination,” said Allan Kilavuka, Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO.
KQ has a great history with Motorsports and the Safari Rally dating back to the 1990s. These events exemplify the Kenyan spirit of uplifting sportsmanship, culture, and heritage to the rest of the World through sports. In June 2021, the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally returned to Kenya after a 19-year absence, and KQ signed an agreement to participate in each consecutive year of the rally.
As the official airline partner, Kenya Airways will facilitate the transportation of rally cars, spare parts, participants, officials, tourists, and spectators and serve as a bridge connecting Kenya to the World. Utilizing its extensive global network, Kenya Airways aims to attract a diverse international audience, thereby enhancing Kenya’s global profile.
The rally will feature rugged terrain, with drivers tackling rocky roads, sandy tracks, and water crossings, all while battling intense heat and wildlife encounters. It is one of Kenya’s premier sporting events, offering participants and spectators a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Kenya’s rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and extraordinary wildlife encounters, enhancing Kenya’s global profile.
This collaboration aligns with Kenya Airways’ mission to propel Africa’s prosperity by connecting its people, cultures, and markets. As Kenya strengthens its position as a hub for sports tourism, Kenya Airways remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting sporting events that transcend boundaries, unite communities, and elevate destinations. This dedication further enhances the country’s presence worldwide, reinforcing our commitment to promoting sports tourism in Kenya.
