The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has officially banned manual replacement of lost registration certificates of teachers. According to a memo that was sent to regional offices, the teachers were asked to make their applications exclusively online to ensure that they do not overcrowd offices.

CEO Nancy Macharia says this move is part of its 2019-2023 strategic plan aimed to enhance efficiency in service delivery. TSC Director of Quality Assurance Reuben Nthamburi also explained that the new directive would help the tutors reduce transportation costs.

“The Code of regulation for teachers, 2015 regulation 32 (1) and (2) states that the commission may on application, issue duplicate certificate of registration to a person who’s lost, destroyed or misplaced upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Ksh2,055,” he stated in the memo.

Following this move, TSC has successfully migrated services related to the replacement of lost registration certificates for teachers to an online platform.

Teachers who have lost their certificates of registration can now apply for replacement through the online portal on the TSC website. TSC has moved a number of services to an online platform since 2019.

 How to Apply Online

The commission is mandated to register qualified teachers and has allowed those who lose their certificates to ensure that they hold duplicates.

To apply for the certificate, teachers are expected to complete an online process through www.tsc.go.ke

In the application process, the tutors need an original police abstract detailing the lost certificates. For a change of names, they need marriage certificates.

Applicants also need to pay 2,055 shillings and possess a valid National Identification card or passport. After login, applicants should insert their ID number to proceed to the next stage where they enter more personal derails including KRA PIN certificate, their full name, and date of birth.

The applicants are then required to proceed to page four which is the final before submitting their details which includes an upload of their scanned original documents.
