5 Secrets To Help You Get Clients As An SME

by Business Watch Team
MSMEs

In most parts of the world, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are the real engines of the economy. In Kenya, for instance, they account for over 80% of all businesses and employ about 86% of the population.

Getting and sustaining clients as an SME is not an easy task given that you are competing with other established businesses that have more financial muscles and more manpower than you.

Here are 5 secrets that will help you get and sustain clients as an SME:

Be trustworthy

Brands/clients work with someone they can trust. Trust is the invisible currency that every business thrives upon. The moment brands/clients start to see you as someone who cannot be trusted, you will lose them. They will also warn others about you.

Meet deadlines

When clients give you work, they want you to deliver. Any excuse for not delivering as agreed with them is a huge failure. Clients don’t give you the business because you are the best or alone. The moment you fail, someone else will always be found.

Do not work for competitors

Do not be a “brand prostitute” who works for anyone and anything. Most brands are “jealous” in nature and will always be on the lookout to see if you are working for competitors. They trust you with their information and want you to keep it.

Move an extra mile

Never trust to give heaven to a client and deliver the headquarters of hell to them. It is better to under-promise and over-deliver than over-promise and deliver almost nothing.

Have a good team

Your team is as good as your business. You may have the best service/product but if you have a demotivated, rude, and pathetic team, your product/service amounts to nothing. Motivate your team to always give the best to clients.

Please leave your thoughts.

Thank you.
