The number of trains plying the Standard Gauge Railway will be increased to six in an effort to address the increasing demand of passengers.
According to the Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, four more trains are already in the country bringing the number to six.
Three will be situated in Nairobi and three others in Mombasa. This means that the trains will be able to make six journeys a day.
Last month, the Madaraka Express introduced the M-PESA payment system allowing passengers to purchase travelling tickets via phone saving them the hustle that was being experienced at booking offices.
